                                              HAMMURABI

In cultures of the ancient Near East are the gods who dictate the laws to men, therefore, the laws are sacred. In this case the god Shamash, the sun god, god of justice, who delivered the law to King Hammurabi of Babylon.

Making the offender the same as he did to his victim. Here are some examples of laws taken from the Code of Hammurabi:

"If a man has popped the eye of a free man, he burst an eye."

"If a child has beaten his father will cut the hand."

It is in the Louvre Museum (Paris).
